The Mighty Pen Center for Literacy & Research is a center that is dedicated to improving literacy for all age groups. MPC is a tutoring center for the 21st century. Other services offer tutoring and research, but none of them are as convenient as Mighty Pen Center. With us you do not have to run all over the place trying catch libraries before they close or worry about dropping off and picking up your child from centers. If your child receives private tutoring in the home then you have to worry about having an adult in the house while that tutor is there. With us all your child needs is a computer and an e-mail address. The best part about Mighty Pen Center is that we can offer lower prices because we save on overhead. If you have looked at our research materials you have seen that we carry materials that are not widely available at your local libraries even if you are located near one. If you cannot afford our services, we still offer knowledge with our you tube classes and knowledge is power page, free of charge.

Let us get the creditial portion of this out of the way. I am currently studying Mental Health at Touro College. I have a BA in English from the University of South Carolina. I have an A.A.S. in Journalism from Kingsborough Community College where I studied under John Manbeck The Brooklyn Historian. I decided to create this center to serve 2 purposes. One thing I want is to have an affordable place where public school students could receive the tutoring necessary to help them navigate through the system here in New York City. The other thing that I want to do is to create a place where local scholars could gather and add to their knowledge without having to travel to the main libraries outside of their community. I spoke to my wife about it and she agreed to co- found the center with me. I then began to put this idea into practice. Now as it stands we are still searching for a physical center, but I can provide students with a virtual center now. I cannot do any hands on work with students. On the up side though, now I can provide information for free. I hope that my small contribution can beat back the beast of ignorance that ravages us all.

With a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, it is my obligation to assist in the fight to pursue the public good by finding ways to enhance civil society and social justice. I also hold a BS in Biology from Virginia Union University and currently serve as the chairperson for Recruitment and Scholarship with the New York Alumni Chapter. I agreed to co-find the Mighty Pen Center along with my husband because the policy that currently governs education in this country continues to fail our youth. It is our obligation to help young people navigate through the public education system and facilitate realization of self potential. Establishment of the Mighty Pen Center is just our small contribution to influence a child's development. Learning also occurs outside of the institution we call school, so let us begin to do our part.
